The snow outside is about chest-deep on Akito, or at least it was the last time he was outside, bounding around in it.

I stayed home from work for multiple reasons today. By now, if you haven't been under a rock or on a different continent, you've probably heard about the now-infamous Chanukah blizzard of 2006.

Anyway, I headed home early from work yesterday due to a nice little case of food poisoning. For those of you who might not have known this, the orange-cheesy-powder stuff in mac'n'cheese can actually go bad. So after voiding most of my lunch mid-afternoon at work, I decided to head home. It took over two hours (compared to the usual 45 min - 1 hour) as I had to keep pulling off to the side of the road to fill a plastic bag, if you catch my drift.

[livejournal.com profile] j_b is now one of my favorite people, since he came over and helped me feed Akito last night. I really couldn't stand the smell of dog food at that point, so my poor pup would have starved without his help. He stuck around for a couple of hours and played with Akito, who had missed his walk for the last couple of days (now today too, due to sickness and snow). [livejournal.com profile] j_b even went to the grocery store and picked up some more Chanukah candles for me, as I had run out.

Around 5am, I regained the ability to hold down water and tea, and am now back on bland, solid foods. I didn't get any work done today, but I'm going to try to do some tomorrow so I don't have to nuke all my vacation time this week. Either way, I'm trying to figure out how to not go to work again for the rest of the week so I can fully recover and not go sliding in the snow.

You too?

I spent Monday home due to my stomach. We'd made latkes and I think I'm not used to so much grease anymore. James ate something bad while he was gone last week. I didn't think it was contagious.
BTW, I didn't know about the snow. I guess CA is not so much another continent as another planet. We had a FROST Tuesday morning. But the radio reassured me that that should be the last of the bitter cold.

Bleh, sorry to hear you guys are having stomach problems too. My mom said she heard on TV that San Francisco got actual snow. I guess it was more of a liberal interpretation of frost.

Btw, as of this morning, we're up to two feet here (still snowing), and Akito has decided he doesn't want to dive into anything taller than he is.

Thanks. I got a good night's sleep last night (as opposed to the night before) and am already feeling a bit more human.
