I Got Better!
Apr. 10th, 2004 10:15 amTrue, Thursday was lousy, but Friday helped to make up for it. So here are the new developments to report from work.
I'm transferring in with the Power Subsystems group, and it looks like they're much better organized than Systems Engineering (even though they're a subset of that group). The group lead seems organized, they have standards of practice within the group, group meetings take place on a fairly regular basis, and they actually help each other! Perish the thought!
My first assignment is under Commercial Space on ICESat. Apparently, there have been a *lot* of power issues with this spacecraft (I bet
merlion knows all about this one). They've had some people working on this here and there, but the customer wants someone on it full-time, so here I am. It looks like I'll be doing a lot of power analyses and predictions -- very similar to the stuff I was doing at NASA for ISS!
I'm really excited about this assignment because it looks like something I might actually be able to do! *shock, dismay* It should also keep me busy and productive, which is what I've been wanting for over a year now. This won't be an easy assignment, but I think this is something I can do and maybe even get good at. Plus, they're giving me study materials so I can learn about NiH2 batteries in my spare time.
