Well, I was going to hit the gym tonight, but as it's nearly 9:00 and iTunes is trying to crash, it's time for that book meme that's going around instead.

Book meme thing. 106 books below are on "unread" list on LibraryThing. Key:
Bold - read
Italics - couldn't finish (I'm also using as didn't finish for whatever reason)
Strike - hated
* Asterisk - read more than once
underline - on "to read" pile

Since I rarely stop reading a book in the middle with no intention of returning to it, I'll use the italics to indicate books I only read part of for other reasons. Also, the underline will indicate books I'd like to read someday, even if they aren't on my immediate reading list, per se.

Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell
Anna Karenina
Crime and Punishment
Catch-22 - Been recommended many times
One Hundred Years of Solitude
Wuthering Heights
The Silmarillion - I'm sure I will hit another Tolkien phase one of these days
Life of Pi : a novel
The Name of the Rose
Don Quixote - Read bits of it in Spanish class, though we used a modern version, rather than the original. Guess that means I'm not hard core
Moby Dick - I was never that interested in this one, but now that I hear that the entire first chapter is about etymology...maybe someday I'll be that big of a nerd, but not today
Ulysses
The Odyssey
Pride and Prejudice
Jane Eyre - I don't plan on getting any closer to this than The Eyre Affair
A Tale of Two Cities - I really enjoyed this book back in high school. I might reread someday, when I decide to forgive Dickens for David Copperfield
The Brothers Karamazov - I've only read the bits that were published as The Grand Inquisitor
Guns, Germs, and Steel: the fates of human societies - Hey, this is a modern book
War and Peace - One that is not on my shelf, wow!
Vanity Fair
The Time Traveler's Wife
The Iliad
Emma
The Kite Runner
Mrs. Dalloway
Great Expectations - I actually have this in e-book format somewhere
American Gods
Atlas Shrugged
Reading Lolita in Tehran : a memoir in books
Memoirs of a Geisha
Middlesex
Quicksilver
Wicked : the life and times of the wicked witch of the West
The Canterbury Tales - Read some of this back in 5th grade
A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man
Love in the Time of Cholera
Brave New World
The Fountainhead
Foucault's Pendulum
Middlemarch
Frankenstein
The Count of Monte Cristo - After watching Gankutsuou, this book started to sound interesting. I think I'm going to try another Dumas first
Dracula
A Clockwork Orange
Anansi Boys
The Once and Future King
The Grapes of Wrath - I loved this book when I read it in high school. I really should get a copy for my bookshelf so I can reread bits and pieces when the mood strikes me
1984
Angels & Demons
* The Inferno - I've read the entire Divine Comedy, though this is the only good part
The Satanic Verses
Sense and Sensibility
The Picture of Dorian Gray
Mansfield Park
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
To the Lighthouse
Tess of the D'Urbervilles
Oliver Twist - Haven't read it, refuse to as I hate the story
Gulliver's Travels - Somehow, I've never read this one. But if you enjoy it, I recommend Kino's Journey: The Beautiful World (anime and novels)
Les Misérables
The Corrections - I don't know what this book is either
The Amazing adventures of Kavalier and Clay
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time
Dune - This one needs a reread; loved it the first time
The Prince
The Sound and the Fury
Angela's Ashes : A Memoir
The God of Small Things
A People's History of the United States : 1492-present
Cryptonomicon - This is one where I did read a few chapters, then put it down
Neverwhere
A Confederacy of Dunces
A Short History of Nearly Everything
Dubliners
The Unbearable Lightness of Being
Beloved
Slaughterhouse Five
The Scarlet Letter
Eats, Shoots & Leaves
The Mists of Avalon
Oryx and Crake : a novel
Collapse : How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed - This one sounded pretty good when I saw the author on The Daily Show, but I don't know if I'll ever get to it
Cloud Atlas
The Confusion
Lolita
Persuasion
Northanger Abbey
The Catcher in the Rye
On the Road
The Hunchback of Notre Dame - Ugh, hated this in high school. One tip: translate the entire freaking book!
Freakonomics : a Rogue Economist Explores the Hidden Side of Everything
Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance : an Inquiry into Values
The Aeneid - Read bits in Western Civ in high school
Watership Down - Read this in 6th grade, and I really don't remember it, so a reread would be a good idea
Gravity's Rainbow - Ugh, freaking Pynchon
The Hobbit - Again, someday I'll get back on a Tolkien kick
White Teeth
Treasure Island
David Copperfield - I still haven't forgiven Dickens for this one being his favorite
The Three Musketeers

Geez, this list makes me look half-illiterate. I read lots of books! Just not the ones on this list, it seems...
