Bit of a Scare

I had a little scare last night around 2am. Akito woke me up to let him outside, and as we made our way downstairs, he started barking at the door -- it was open about a foot. My heart started racing. The first thing I did was grab Akito so he couldn't dart out. Then I closed the door and started looking around to see if anyone was (or had been) inside. Akito was a very good guard dog and helped me check every room and closet. Eventually, I decided that I hadn't closed the door very well when I got home, and the wind had likely blown it open. The door doesn't close very well, but the deadbolt usually keeps it closed okay. I went to McGuckin's today and bought a barrel lock to install on the door once I locate an appropriate drill.

Everything's fine now, but I was so glad to have a dog with me to check around the house. *hugs puppy* He might bite me, eat my blankets, and do all sorts of other things I don't like, but when the chips are down, I'm glad to have him.
