Running, Running, Whee!
Mar. 28th, 2004 08:34 amThis is/has been a crazy weekend. Friday night was much fun. Met up with some people from Anime Club for dinner since there was no club this week. Unfortunately ended up talking too long and the clock suddenly said 9:30. So I dashed out of there and headed downtown to Naomi's birthday festivities. Because I was late, I missed seeing
moogle_of_lulu, but I did have a great time chatting with other people there, and particularly interesting conversations with
sea_siren,
mackys, and
enishi2000. Group get-togethers like that are fun, and we don't do them nearly often enough. It's nice to get to just sit and talk with people, though I could generally do without the smoky-downtown-bar aspect of it.
Yesterday I mostly spent getting ready for this week, but took time out for Sci-Fi Club, which was entertaining as always. However, I have a feeling that Weird Sisters is probably a lot better if you've ever read *anything* Terry Pratchett ever wrote. I also have people pestering me to read Sandman. The one story I read by Neil Gaiman was quite good, so I'm definitely open to reading more of his stuff, just not sure where I should start.
Today, I'm off in about 45 minutes to Colorado Springs for the National Space Symposium. Since there's no way my company would send me to this, I'm going as a volunteer, which could arguably be better. This means that I will be picking up assorted VIPs at the airport and driving them to the symposium. If you look at the guest list on that web site, it's a pretty impressive who's who of the aerospace industry. It looks like it's going to be pretty swanky too. I'm excited. I also scored an invite to AGI's (people who make STK) Monte Carlo Casino Night. Those guys throw quite the party. The last casino night of theirs I was at resulted in my winning that tiny camera/mp3 player most of you have seen me with.
Ack! Must go finish packing. I'll be back in Boulder on Wednesday (very, very early Wednesday).

I agree.
Date: 2004-03-28 08:43 am (UTC)We should hang out in bars in Boulder, where you can't smoke inside. Say what you will about the People's Republic, but at least you can drink a beer here without coming home reeking of the cigar of the guy at the next table.
