The odd thing is that I just read the first Sandman issue that Death appears in last night, so I don't know much about her.

Nope. Gaiman's Death is not very spooky. She is instead whimiscal, wise, responsible, quirky, and made happy by small things. She's very cool actually. Go forth and read more about her.
