[livejournal.com profile] willow_red 's Day Off

It's September, and as expected, life is pretty hectic for me right now. In an effort to not burn out completely, I'm going to take some really good advice I was given last week. One or two days a week, I'm taking time off for me, to do the things I want or need to do to try to maintain my tenuous hold on sanity.

Sunday was the first of these days. I woke up feeling pretty crappy the morning after the wedding, so I opted to take it easy. I took a little walk around the neighborhood (very slowly since my legs were hurting from dancing the night before), then drove around a bit between Boulder and Longmont. It was nice, and allowed me to recover enough to get some furniture and boxes moved around at home.

I want to make a habit of this kind of day (well, except for the feeling crappy in the morning part). It won't always be the same day(s) of the week, and it won't necessarily be planned much in advance. So if I dis anyone by not hanging out even with no real excuse once in a while, I'm sorry, but if I don't do this occasionally, I'm going to snap.

Thanks for understanding.

Oh, and just a heads-up: I'm planning a housewarming party for Saturday, October 16th. Details are TBD, but all on my friends list are invited, along with a bunch of other people, who I really should e-mail one of these days.

I think your new habit of you sounds like a pretty darn good idea.

Also, can you e-mail me your snail mail address? I'm reachable at erj99 @ hotmail.com.

Thanks!!!

I cannot begin to emphasize the importance of taking time off from the rest of the world to focus on you. I'm a people person, so I frequently get sucked into having every single spare hour and second of my time booked up either with work or spending time with people. Anyway, point being ... every once in a while (about once a month or so, depending upon the current state of Denmark) I have to go spend time with just me. Either holed up in the bedroom ignoring Robert & Alanna and watching a movie or going out to see a movie or going and getting a nice dinner or desert with a book or stack of comics in tow.

You time = a saner you.

Looking forward to checking out the house you purchased ... assuming your crazy fellow gamers are still welcome. Y'never know what those Slytherins might be getting up to ... or what condition the Hufflepuffs'll leave your house in. {smiles}

Yes, the HP gamer crowd is certainly invited, though I will understand if not everyone wants to drive an hour to Boulder. I'm hoping you guys will be as amused as I was that my house has a "cupboard under the stairs."

Thanks for your comment about the "me" time. I overscheduled myself pretty badly this month. Maybe one of these days, I'll learn not to do that. In the meantime, I think the occasional evening or weekend day will be good for reading, watching anime, or wandering the new neighborhood to see where the trails take me.

Oh, and can I say how much I love your icon?
