Greetings From a New Family Member
Dec. 31st, 2004 10:08 amIt finally happened: I got a puppy! He's a very cute German Shepherd/??? mix, and he's about two or three months old. His coloring is mostly reddish-tan with some black mixed in along his back and tail. He weighs just under 20 pounds, and we have no idea what he'll grow to.
The shelter named him Tanaka, but I'm not sure if I'll keep that name. Last night, I was thinking Akito, but this morning, he looks like a little Kitsune. His favorite hobby is biting anything he can get his teeth on, particularly me. Ah, teething. Housetraining is going pretty well. He's a smart little guy -- smarter than he wants me to think -- so we've been having some dominance issues. Pictures to be posted a bit later, once he'll let me on the computer for more than a minute or two.
He was a bit afraid of heights at first, but he's getting better about the stairs. It's all very cute. There also appears to be an identical puppy that's stalking him around the house, but can only be seen in mirrors.
Anyway, starting on crate-training today, then a quest for rawhide chews.
