...We had to do weekly one-on-one conversations with the teacher. Mine all started out the same way. She'd ask how I was doing, and I'd answer: "Hay demasiado que hacer, y no hay bastante tiempo para hacerlo." (For those who don't speak Spanish: There's too much to do, and not enough time to do it.) It's as true now as it was then.

I realized it's been a very long time since I updated, and for those who I mostly talk to via LJ, my apologies. I have been keeping up with journal reading, however, and even manage to write a comment or two periodically. I won't make excuses for not writing, but I will say a little about what I've been up to.

Akito graduated from puppy class on Saturday, and even did well on his final exam! Go puppy! He's coming up on seven months old, and the maturity is really starting to show. He still acts up fairly often, but has been getting much better. He's getting bigger too -- 32 lbs (from 19 when I got him)!

Work perpetually makes me crazy, if not for one reason, then for another. I worked a bunch of overtime in the past month or so, but I'm burning out badly, and the spring weather doesn't help that much. I asked my boss for a laptop, but got an iPod Shuffle instead. The good part is a) portable music, and b) taking work home. The bad part is that work taken home must still be done inside, and a certain puppy gets jealous of the computer if I'm in front of it for too long.

Once again, I'm trying to read too much. I'm in the middle of The Well of Lost Plots by Jasper Fforde (third Thursday Next book). It rocks, and I would be done with it if that was the only thing I was reading. [livejournal.com profile] illyanarasputin and I are very close to being done with our sci-fi short story book, but I'm two or three stories behind her now, and really ought to catch up tonight if possible. My manga backlog is piling up, and will probably become the priority once sci-fi stories are done. [livejournal.com profile] j_b gave me a most cool birthday present of a Science magazine subscription. I really like reading it, but wish that it was a bi-weekly publication, as it takes me more than a week to get through each one. Luckily, I've gotten pretty good at recognizing which articles (usually biology/genetics) are too far over my head to even try. I'm about a month behind, but still plugging along. On space news, I'm about three months behind on reading Space.com updates. Being behind on that one is a pretty standard state of affairs, but normally I'm only a month or two behind. Of course, that's one I tend to read at work, so it's clear why that happened.

At the same time, I've gotten addicted to Great Courses on CD. [livejournal.com profile] illyanarasputin got me started on these, but I'm enjoying them greatly. We've been listening to the course on Ancient Egypt, and also have courses on the Illiad, Odyssey, and Judaism that we're trading back and forth. Warning: clicking the above link could kill an hour or more of your time if you like history or lecture courses.

TV shows I'm watching include Numb3rs (thanks to parents' VCR), Wonderfalls (could it be, [livejournal.com profile] illyanarasputin?), Highlander (on 2nd season), and Stargate SG-1 (on 4th season), the latter two thanks to Netflix.

Socially, people are starting to get back into group gatherings again. We saw a truly excellent play on Friday called Proof. I really like [livejournal.com profile] lilacwire's description: it's about relationships, math, and death, but not necessarily in that order. It's playing for one more weekend only, and I highly recommend it to probably anyone who reads this. Well worth the drive to Longmont, if you're within driving distance, that is. I had to choose between a couple of different things on Saturday, and ended up at a group dinner party which was much fun. We played games after dinner, including a pretty cut-throat round of Munchkin, which I had never played before, but managed to win by the skin of my teeth.

Gaming appears to be no more, at least for the time being. I strongly suspect that OMG th3 dr4ma!!1~~1one! is to blame, but I also know that it's just as likely none of my business, so I'm not going to worry about it too much. I'm sad to see the game fall apart, just as I was starting to get the hang of it, but it looks like we might change over to a Buffy-style game, which I can also deal with.

Next week is going to be insane, and it starts on Friday. Check out this schedule. Friday afternoon, I'm taking off work early to take Akito down to Aurora to stay with my parents. Then, I'm headed up to Estes Park for the weekend with TBP for the spring conference. Very little sleep will happen, but I'm sure it will be fun. On Sunday, I drive from Estes Park down to Colorado Springs for volunteer orientation. After that, it's back up to Aurora to pick up Akito. I'm taking Monday off of work for my own sleep and sanity. Monday afternoon, I'm back down to Aurora with Akito so he can stay with my parents again. Either Monday night or early Tuesday morning, I head back down to Colorado Springs to volunteer at the National Space Symposium doing VIP transportation (and checking out the symposium!) on Tuesday and Wednesday. Whenever I get out Wednesday night, I'll drive back up to Aurora, pick up Akito (who will likely have been driven neurotic by that point) and head back up to Boulder. Things return to normal on Thursday, at least, as far as I know.

I still have a large backlog of other things to do, including a number of gifts that need to be sent overseas. Alas, that's on my list of things to do once I have my Saturday mornings back. Biggest apologies there go to [livejournal.com profile] ashfae and [livejournal.com profile] randomchris who deserve to get their wedding presents on time, darnit!

I'm just thankful that Pesach comes late this year. Oh, and if you actually read through all this, you deserve a cookie.

There. Now if I don't update again for another month, you at least have an idea why.

Where is my cookie!!!

Glad things are going along for you. If I can be of assistance, ( and I mean useful assistance, - no puppy sitting, no good at that) let me know.

Love ya,
K

No, no, I would not make you do that. Besides, my parents get first dibs on puppy-sitting (grandparents' prerogative).

Nono, late presents GOOD! It means we have something to look forward to, will get present when we're happy and sane instead of stressed and busy. No worries at all. =)

Thank you for being understanding about it. Heck, I still have that green dreidel I was sending you for Chanukah. Oh, well. One of these days, a very large package (or possibly a number of small ones) will show up at your door. I will be annoyed with myself until that day happens.

I want my cookie. :p

And, um, wow. I thought I was busy. Clearly, I was mistaken.

This is nothing. You should have seen me in college...or even high school for that matter. I have to work pretty hard to keep from taking on too much.

Cookie? C is for dreidel!

No worries on being behind in posting. Life is life, we all understand and experience how it goes.

How are things otherwise?
