I'm not sure how many of the people reading this would be interested, but here goes anyway. It's that time of year again, and with Halloween comes trick-or-treating. We might be a bit old for this, but if you still like getting dressed up in a costume and wandering the neighborhood, keep reading.

CU's chapter of Tau Beta Pi, the national engineering honor society, is coordinating the 8th Annual Trick-or-Can. This consists of a bunch of volunteers dressing up in Halloween costumes and going door to door to collect canned food for Boulder Community Food Share. We started back in 1998, with only a handful of people, collecting a couple hundred pounds of food. Last year, we had ~200 people, who collected well over a ton of food. I want us to do at least that well this year, if not better.

This event is open to all people, of all ages. If you're interested in participating, you can leave a comment below. We're meeting on the CU campus, in the lobby of the Engineering Center at 5:30 pm tomorrow. Neighborhoods will be assigned, and maps will be given out. It only takes a couple of hours, so you'll have time to get to any previously scheduled Halloween activites.

I've done it probably four or five of the past seven years, and it's always been lots of fun. And hey, it might not even snow on us this year!

*calls physicist friend*

"Hey, Nash, how's it going? I know we haven't talked in a couple of years, but I was wondering how that teleporter was coming along...Uh-huh...Married? Yeah, I heard about that. Congrats...So not much progress then?...Bah, some help you are; we need to get [livejournal.com profile] ashfae here tonight...Dude, you never took that assigment list that Whitney gave you very seriously...Fundamental laws of physics? Feh!...Yeah, I bet that's what you said about the time machine too...Look, I gotta go."

*click*

The sad thing is, that conversation is probably about what would happen. And yes, in college I had a friend who we gave semi-impossible assignments to, and a teleporter was one of them. But I digress.

Maybe one of these years, the timing will work out. I'd love to have you here for it.

And I'd love to be there for it. Some year, I hope. I shouldn't be bound to come in September anymore, at any rate. =)
