Bicycle Maintenence
Jun. 16th, 2005 08:03 pmI signed up for Bike-to-Work Day for the third year in a row. However, I've only actually biked it once, back in 2003. Last year, I was unable to get my bike into decent enough shape in time, so I walked to work that day (~3.5 miles). My feet were not happy with me by the end of the day, but I did it, channeling Yomiko Readman the whole time ;). This year, I have my bike mostly in shape. After months of searching on and off, I finally found replacement brakes. They don't work quite as well as I want them too, but they'll be good enough for now. I think I need to get the cords tightened, but that'll require me to take it in, which won't happen by next week. Btw, thanks to
nickhalfasleep for that link on how brakes are supposed to fit. The tires could use more air, but I'll survive if I don't find my bike pump in time. Must search for my helmet, however.
I took a test ride around the neighborhood for a mile or two, which cramped up my legs more than it should have. Oh well, Bike-to-Work day generally equals pain, but I can do it! Maybe I can start biking to work a day or two here and there to get some exercise.
Check it out! I wrote a short post, and it's the second one this week! Go me!
